Adur Festival's rocking start

BEACH Dreams celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, with its annual procession and extravanganza on Saturday, June 7.

Global Tales is the theme, with processions leaving from Shoreham Beach First School, in Shingle Road, and the Church of the Good Shepherd, Kings Walk, at noon to converge on Beach Green, Shoreham Beach, at 12.30pm for an enactment to start the day's events.

There will be live music on stage, food and stalls, and entry is free.

The daytime events finish at 6pm.

Eighties band Cutting Crew will perform in the Beach Dreams marquee, on Beach Green, that night from 8pm.

Tickets cost 15.

There will be a church service in the marquee on Sunday, at 10am, followed by an afternoon of music, food and family entertainment.

Lancing rocked to the sound of live music as the 21st Adur Festival was launched on Saturday, May 31.

Boundstone Community College band played on the inflatable stage set up in North Road, as well as the Littlehampton Community School's steel band.

There was also face painting, urban art, side stalls and dancing.

The launch kick-started two weeks of arts and entertainment events across Adur.

South Street in Lancing also played host to a number of different arts events.

A sculpture inspired by designs of pupils from Freshbrook First School, was on display in St Michael and All Angels' Church garden.

There was an opportunity to join in with chalk pavement pictures at Headborough Gardens, or marvel at a flock of the Lesser-spotted blue-legged Lancing Gawk made from recycled electrical wire by students from Boundstone.

An exhibition showing the history of South Street and how it has been involved in the development of Lancing was also on show.
