Robert Thorne Waite was a British artist who died in 1935. His painting, called The Adur Valley, shows Shoreham at the mouth of the river, with a haymaking scene, a man and dog in the foreground.

The areas previously known as Old Shoreham and New Shoreham are in the distance, with Brighton in the far distance.
