Air ambulance needed after two car crashes

TWO serious accidents occurred on roads at Rye and Fairlight on Friday afternoon, both involving people being trapped in vehicles.

Shortly before 1.30pm a car and a van were in collision on the A2590 Winchelses Road. Fire and rescue tenders from Rye and The Ridge, Hastings, attended to release a casualty who was then taken to hospital by ambulance.

Then just after 4pm two vehicles collided in narrow Rosemary Lane between Fairlight and Pett, forcing police to close the road at each end while fire and rescue crews from The Ridge and Bohemia Road, Hastings, fought for almost an hour to release a casualty.

The injured person was released and flown to hospital by the Kent, Surrey and Sussex air ambulance, which landed in a nearby field after flying in from its base at Marden, Kent.
