Album launch on-track for Olwen

A LANCING singer-songwriter is to launch her new album by performing a free concert.

Olwen Ringrose will launch her second independent CD, The Daughter of the King, on Sunday, June 11.

The album is the follow-up to 2004's Live at the Chapel Royal, and is a collection of Celtic-inspired acoustic folk songs.

Olwen said: "I have been doing music forever. My mum is a flute teacher. It has always been a part of what I do. I have just been doing some support for a gospel singer, Kate Simmonds."

The album was recorded with producer and pianist Mark Edwards, who has worked with Chris Rea, Roddy Frame, of Aztec Camera, and Paul Weller, among others.

The concert and album launch will be held at the CityCoast Church, in North Street, Portslade. Olwen said the church would be transformed for the concert.

"It will be set up more like a jazz club. There will be no worship '“ just a concert. It starts at 6pm and doors open at 5.30pm. It will be free and everyone is welcome to come along," she said.
