Alcohol licence refused for Worthing shop

WORTHING licensing councillors have refused to grant an alcohol licence for a new convenience store at 48 Broadwater Road.

Lutfu Kizilcay, of Evelyn Road, Worthing, applied to sell alcohol, for consumption off the premises, at the Chocolate Box and Wine Shop, between 9am and midnight, Monday to Sunday inclusive.

However, Sussex Police argued the shop was in a residential area and should be closed earlier as the proposal posed a risk of increased crime and disorder.
