Aldi to recruit more than 120 staff in Sussex

Aldi has announced it is recruiting more than 120 store positions for its new and existing stores in Sussex, including its new stores in Eastbourne and Crawley which are due to open in early 2016, as a result of growth throughout the area in 2015.

Aldi is urgently looking to recruit Assistant Store Managers, Deputy Store Managers, Store Assistants and Stock Assistants for the following stores: Bexhill, Brighton, Crawley, East Grinstead, Eastbourne, Hastings, Lewes and Portslade, Brighton, Sussex

Candidates who possess retail or people management experience are being targeted for Aldi’s managerial positions, including Assistant Store Manager and Deputy Store Manager roles. Aldi is particularly looking for applicants who have experience managing teams of at least eight people for its Assistant Store Manager roles, and is seeking people with a passion for retail management for its Deputy Store Manager positions.

Deputy Store Managers are expected to work closely with the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager and will have the responsibility of managing the store team in their absence. Deputy Store Manager roles start from 20 hours per week, with a starting salary of £9.15 per hour rising to £10.75 per hour, plus £3.95 extra per hour when managing the store.

Candidates applying for Aldi’s Store Assistant positions will be required to demonstrate a good level of numeracy to effectively carry out accurate and efficient till operation, and will be responsible for stock management and merchandising. Full training will be provided over a 12 week period, and Store Assistant roles are available from 15 to 30 hours a week with market-leading retail salaries starting at £8.15 per hour and realistic prospects for progression.

Aldi has announced that from February 2016, all UK employees will receive a new minimum rate of £8.40 per hour (higher rates available for stores in London), regardless of their age, in a move that maintains its position as the best supermarket employer in Britain. The new rate is significantly higher than the hourly pay offered by all other British supermarkets and follows significant sustained sales growth and store expansion.
