Aldwick apprentice named Stylist of the Year

An Aldwick apprentice hairdresser has proved she is ahead of the rest with a winning design.

Grace Jeffery scooped the prize of the Stylist of the Year at Chichester College for her hair up creation.

She used her art studies to form a style which featured French pleats at the back with cascading curls into a French roll.

Her imagination caught the attention of the judges who placed her in front of all the college's other full- and part-time hairdressing students.

Grace (20) started her NVQ level two hairdressing course at the college last September. It covers all aspects of the subject.

She combines her studies one day a week with an apprenticeship the rest of the week at her parents' Robins Hair Studio in Aldwick Road.

'I was absolutely overwhelmed to win the prize,' said Grace. 'I was really pleased because I had worked hard for the competition.

'I like being a hair stylist because it's creative and exciting and there's always something new happening. It's good to make people feel better about themselves.

'It's great when you see the look on their faces when they are pleased with the work you have done.'

She received a trophy, a silver plate, a bouquet of flowers and a gift of hair products.
