Aldwick garden event pulls in funding

A summer garden party raised more than £600 to help keep Aldwick village looking good.

The Aldwick Preservation Society event was held in John and Rosemary Covell's garden and lived up to its name with glorious sunshine.

Mr Covell, chairman of the society, said: "We are extremely grateful to all those who helped to stage this event and to all our supporters who came and spent their money."

About 160 people went along to raise 623 for the society's work at Aldwick duck pond. The garden was filled with a variety of stalls, including other charities such as RNLI, Snowdrop and St Wilfrid's, which were kept busy throughout the day.

A ploughman's lunch was also available and the day was rounded off with a grand raffle.
