Aldwick woman's auction aims to help patients

NEW YALE locks, Festival of Speed tickets and a free skip hire are among the lots at an auction being staged by an Aldwick woman.

The lengthy list of services and gifts has been compiled by Sue Adams to further her aim of enabling hospital patients to be connected to the internet.

Sue’s latest fundraiser takes place at 7.30pm on February 3 at The Waverley function room on Marine Drive West in Bognor Regis.

The auctioneers will be Spirit FM’s Milly Luxford and Vicky Edwards. Before their gavels start to fall, and during the interval, the audience will be entertained by The Stewart Singers.

Sue has raised £7,500 since she launched her appeal last June to equip Graffham Ward and the Fernhurst Unit at St Richard’s Hospital with wi-fi capacity, laptops, computer consoles and other IT equipment.

She is hopeful of achieving her £10,000 target by the end of the year.

Her late husband, Dave Adams, had lengthy spells in St Richard’s being treated for acute myeloid leukaemia after he was diagnosed in February 2009.

He died last June aged 50. His times as a patient led Sue to realise how frustrating life can be for those in hospital without access to the internet.
