ALEX - HUNT SCALED DOWN

FOUR weeks after Lewes teenager Alex Heamen went missing, police are scaling down the hunt for her, while at the same time continuing their appeal for information.

At the height of the search, there were more than 30 officers searching for her

Officers spent the weekend scouring the Brighton area in a bid to trace 14-year-old Alex, who has not been seen since she left her home in Abergavenny Road on September 1.

Alex told her mother Tamsin that she was going to visit friends in Brighton but has not made contact with her family since, despite emotional appeals from Tamsin and Alex's grandparents Sandra and John Dunston last week.

There have been several unconfirmed sightings of Alex since her disappearance, and officers from the force's Major Crime Branch have been working around the clock to try and trace her.

Anyone who known of Alex's whereabouts, or who sees her, is urged to contact police immediately on 0845 60 70 999, quoting Operation Warren. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
