Alexandra, 9, lands film part

YOUNG Bexhill talent Alexandra Browning has gained a major part in a feature film.

The nine year old has finished performing in the West End musical Whistle Down the Wind. While waiting to hear about a part in Les Miserable she was offered the role in the film Gunners.

Gunners is set to appear in the Cannes film festival next year. Alexandra will play the part of the 12 year-old daughter of an ex-Special Boat Service operative. The plot thickens with the kidnapping of the family by a Serbian drugs dealer. Mum, Cathy Browning, said Alexandra had fought off competition from hundreds of youngsters to get the part. She was so bubbly, streaks above everyone else .

Keeping herself busy and in the limelight, Alexandra has recently appeared in a Kodak commercial and auditioned for a part in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

This week she will be starting year five at Little Common Primary. She has been looking forward to telling her friends about her success although so far None of them believe her says Cathy.

Filming is due to start on September 22. Most of the film will be set in Amsterdam but Alex s part is filmed in Southampton.

Although this will mean missing part of the school term Cathy is confident that Alex s school work will not suffer.

She says of the school s head teacher: Mr.Pratt is excellent and so keen to congratulate the children s achievements.

When asked what she would like to do next Alex said: I would like to be on The Bill.... and Eastenders. I want to do everything!

Her sisters and brother are equally interested in appearing in shows and on television. Charlotte, aged 13, is a dancer at Janice Blake s dance studio.

Twin sister Victoria is waiting to hear if she has a part in a new television drama.

Oliver, aged three, and youngest Abigail, 17 months, are joining the same agency as their sister this week.
