Alfriston

MUSIC: Alfriston is building up a reputation for being a centre that encourages music of all kinds. We have been the host village to the Summer Music Festival for a number of years and recently Rathfinny has added a music Festival of its own. There are three diverse singing groups in the village. The Church choir, of course, sing at Church services, the Croakers, a male Barber shop group and the Octaves, a community singing group, meet regularly and sing for fun. This year St Andrew's is launching an appeal to raise much needed funds for the repair to the fabric of the ancient church and will run a day of singing workshops in February to start the appeal. Sing Alfriston on February 13 will have four different styles of singing workshops running throughout the day. The four styles covered will be Church/Gospel run by Ray Maulken; Community/Rock/Pop, run by Cate Couch; Folk by Andy and Mac and Classical by David Ward. All the leaders are experienced musicians.
