Alice gives Pavilion a buzz

DE LA Warr Pavilion officials have reported how the building was 'buzzing' this festive season, following the success of their Christmas show, Alice in Wonderland.

A spokesman for the venue confirmed this week the building had, "almost sold out performances" for the run. The 'Christmas show' replaced the traditional pantomime of previous years with significantly fewer performances than last year's Cinderella.

The production saw members of the Chalkfoot Theatre Company play multiple rolls in the adaptation of the Lewis Carroll classic.

Local charities also benefited from the show through a fundraising Victorian fair (pictured above). Groups included The British Heart Foundation, ESSPA, The Society of Bexhill Museums, Friends of St Mary's, BATS, MIND, Friends of Egerton Park and King Offa School.

A visit by Father Christmas also saw goody bags handed out to hundreds of children.

De La Warr Pavilion head of communications Sally Ann Lycett said: "The holiday season saw the caf and restaurant particularly busy, with local families and out-of-towners visiting relatives, coming for the day to catch the last days of Voodoo Macbeth in the galleries and to enjoy Bexhill at this special time."
