All aboard for tramway events at Pagham Harbour

It will be all aboard at Pagham Harbour this month, with two events to celebrate the Selsey Tramway.

The tramway operated from 1897 to 1935 and ran for 11 miles, linking Selsey to Chichester.

One event is a three-mile walk at the harbour nature reserve on Saturday, July 11, from 10.30am to 12.30pm, along parts of the tramway route and taking in the surrounding countryside.

Booking is essential for the walk, which costs 3 per person. Proceeds will go to the Manhood Heritage and Wildlife Group.

A free exhibition on the Selsey Tramway takes place on Saturday, July 11, and Sunday, July 12, from 10am to 4pm.

Organised by the Selsey Society, the exhibition, at the Pagham Harbour Visitor Centre, in Selsey Road, Sidlesham, has a fascinating collection of articles and images looking at the history of the tramway, its success and eventual closure.
