Daning displays by the Spotlight Dancer led by Sophie Leferbe and featuring The C.A.N. Dance Team of Chris Nicholson and Virgina Popova - both users of the church hall - kept supporters entertained.

Piper Tim Hickmot played on the field and in Sidley to draw in the faithful.

Knitwear and clothing, tombola and raffle, bric-a-brac and a grand football sweepstake were among the stall attractions. There were books aplenty and a card game.

TheVicar, Father Trevor Buxton, would not be drawn on whether the church's plans to obtain planning permission for a fund-raising plan to develop the field might have reached fruition by next year.

But he was delighted with the response to this year's fair.

"Everyone is really keen. A lot of them have been hear since Mass at 8am getting the stalls set up.

"People have been working towards this for months
