All set for village day

The Storrington Village Day Committee has held its first meeting this year and is developing an exciting programme for this great summer event - building on the success of past years.

The annual spectacle will be held as usual on the Recreation ground on Saturday June 22. The earlier start of 1pm will give everyone more time to enjoy the afternoon’s attractions, displays and arena acts rather than running into the evening where attendance has declined in recent years.

The committee is keen to have a big village input and is encouraging as many groups as possible to join in and contribute to a fun day for the whole community. Proceeds from the event are used to support many village activities for young people.

Village Day new committee chairman, Norman Boyland, said: “We are planning another fun packed day with something to lift everyone’s spirits. It’s an opportunity to bring the community together and for as many local groups as possible to show the village what they can do.”

Entry to the event is free.

The day will include gymnastic acts, dancing by local school children, a procession and display by SADCASE classic car enthusiasts, funfair and games, Morris Dancing, bar and bbq, teas and cakes as well as charity, craft and trade stalls.

Here is a great opportunity for local traders/businesses/local groups and societies, clubs, craft and trade stalls to get involved in the biggest Storrington community event of the year.
