Amberley gardens at their Sunday best

VILLAGERS in picturesque Amberley are putting the finishing touches to their beautiful borders and trimming hedges and lawns before welcoming visitors to their Open Gardens charity event on Sunday (June 6).

Fifteen gardens will be on display and the money raised by the sale of tickets, price 6, will go to the children's health charity, Action Medical Research, which was founded by former Amberley resident, the late Duncan Guthrie.

Overseeing the event will be a mascot, Freesia (pictured), created by the Amberley Crafts Group, a 6ft tall character made from recycled card and paper, who will be on duty near the plant stall.

The gardens are open from 2-6pm and tickets will be on sale at a number of venues around the village.

This week's Littlehampton Gazette mistakenly reported that the event would take place on Saturday. We apologise for the error.
