Ambulance in collision with another vehicle in Haywards Heath

An ambulance responding to a call was in collision with another vehicle in Haywards Heath on Saturday (January 25).

The incident occurred just after 9am in Hazelgrove Road.

A spokesperson for South East Coast Ambulance Service said: “The female driver of the other vehicle did sustain an injury to her head and was assessed and treated before being take to Royal County Hospital.

“Another ambulance and car were sent to the scene.

“Our ambulance crew were shaken but did not receive hospital treatment although one of them has reported some neck pain, but is not believed to be badly injured.”

The spokesperson confirmed the ambulance was not carrying a patient at the time, but was en route to a non-lifethreatning emergency call, to which another ambulance was immediately assigned.

They added: “We are looking in to the circumstances to determine, like any road traffic collision, who is at fault.

“Thankfully, given the number of emergency calls we respond to, incidents such as this are rare.”

The police and fire service also attended the scene.
