Ambulances hit75 percent ofresponse target

Rye MP Amber Rudd praised the service when she was invited to take a look behind the scenes by Senior Operations Manager James Pavey last week.

Amber said: “I was so impressed to see how each ambulance on its return to the centre is immediately cleaned inside and out, checked mechanically, and has its stocks replenished in a system known as ‘Make Ready’, meaning that paramedics can have absolute confidence in the cleanliness, road-worthiness and equipment each time they use an ambulance.

“To hear patients’ risk of contracting a virus or infection of any kind is almost nil whilst in the care of SECamb is so reassuring.”

SECamb is meeting the national target of an 8 minute response, for life threatening emergencies, 75% of the time across Sussex, Surrey and Kent, and works in partnership with some 800 Community First Responder teams of local volunteers, trained by SECamb to treat cardiac arrest in rural communities.

James Pavey said: ““We know from evidence-based research that for stroke cases, it is far more important to go to a centre of specialists, and travel times are less significant in relation to patient outcomes.

“Generalisation is worse for outcomes, specialisation offers better outcomes, in other words, right place first time.”
