The Game is played every Boxing Day at 11am in Castle Street between 3 teams. There is one goal and no rules. The aim is to get the ‘Frenchman’s head’ into the goal and to stop the other teams doing the same.

The Game was played as vigorously as usual this year and was watched by a large crowd. There were no serious injuries. The score was yellow 6, red 4 and blue 4. The yellow team were accused of fielding a Frenchman, but the charge could not be substantiated. The mayor of Winchelsea once again declined an invitation to play.
