Anger sparked at Filching Quarry plan

THOUSANDS of tonnes of waste could be imported into a quarry – sparking anger by residents and a protest movement.

Haulaway Ltd, based at the Diplocks Industrial Estate in Hailsham, wants to import 136,000 tonnes of inert construction fill material each year during a five year period, 2012 to 2017, to restore and stablise Filching Quarry in Jevington, with the installation of a temporary site office and wheel cleaning facilities.
