Angler takes Arundel Festival Mullet Fishing title again

SIMON Wilcox was the winner of Sunday’s annual Arundel Festival Mullet Fishing Competition for the second year running.

A record 18 rods took part, with a total of 10 mullets caught – all being returned alive to the River Arun.

Simon was presented with the Ray Cranham Shield by former Arundel mayor Don Ayling for his catch of six mullets, weighing a total of 13lb 13oz.

Nick Porrit came second, with Jake Casson third, both with two fish each.

Don said: “It was lovely weather for fishing and a good day was enjoyed by all.”

The competition was sponsored by Arun Angling.
