Angmering artists ‘astound’ visitors

THE BRUSH strokes of talented Angmering artists brought a breath of life to some of the village’s most recognisable beauty spots, this week.

More than a dozen villagers took centre stage during the Angmering Society’s latest art show, at St Margaret’s Church, in Arundel Road, in an exhibition which has been heralded as one of the organisation’s best yet by visitors to the event.

And with good reason, too. From dramatic scenes of the Cornish coastline to the tranquillity of Angmering Park and the rolling hills of the South Downs, each piece showed an artistry that left visitors awe-inspired.

Andrew Harn impressed visitors with his dynamic scenes of a pair of Harrier jump jets landing on board a Royal Navy aircraft carrier and a search-and-rescue helicopter flying over a bleak hillside, while Judith Simmons captured the moment a large wave broke below a lighthouse, in her acrylic offering.

Roger Miles, vice chairman of the Angmering Society, praised this year’s event.

He said: “There was such a wide and diverse range of art on offer. It covered the entire spectrum, from novices and people who occasionally dabble, to those who have a little more experience under their belts.”

Roger now hopes that the next exhibition, scheduled for some time in 2014, will incorporate some of the village’s photographic talent.
