Angmering man held over Isle of Wight robbery

AN ANGMERING man has been arrested in connection with armed robbery on the Isle of Wight.

The 22-year-old was arrested on suspicion of robbery at Worthing police station yesterday (Tuesday,July 14) and later transferred into custody on the island.

Three homes in West Sussex were searched by Hampshire police last week, after Benzie yachting jewellers, in Cowes, was held up by men said to be brandishing a handgun and sledgehammers, on July 3. About 15 watches were stolen, and two windows were smashed.

Oliver Maziel, 21, from Worthing, was arrested and charged with robbery and possessing an imitation firearm. A 23-year-old woman, also from Worthing, was arrested but later released on police bail, until September, pending further inquires.
