Angmering urged to be masters of its own destiny

ANGMERING villagers are being urged to support a new initiative which could give the community more of a say in where houses are built and who should live in them

A Community Land Trust (CLT) is being set up for Angmering, with the aim of providing affordable homes in the village for people already living there.

The scheme could also ease the pressure of hundreds more homes being built in Angmering under plans being drawn up by Arun District Council.

Rob Martin, clerk of Angmering Parish Council, and one of the driving forces behind the CLT, said the trust’s aim was to help young people looking for a foot on the housing ladder, older people looking to downsize and release capital, and divorcées re-entering the housing market.

“The one thing they will all have in common is having a strong Angmering link. The properties could be affordable rented, part-ownership, or fully-owned, but should be available to only local people.”

More volunteers are needed to join the trust, and an open day is being held at Angmering Village Hall on Saturday, April 27, from 10am-3pm, giving people the opportunity to find out more.
