Animal magic at Mais House

Creatures great and small were welcomed to Mais House when the Royal British Legion home played host to Seven Sisters sheep farm.

Animals from the sheep farm in East Dean paid an afternoon visit to the home - including lambs, rabbits, guinea pigs, geese, chicken, ducks, ferrets, dogs and Woody the donkey.

The residents loved cuddling and stroking the animals while recalling memories of their own pets and farm experiences.

Melba Coombs, whose birthday it was on the day of the visit, remembered being brought up on a farm in Cornwall, and said: "This brings back many happy memories to me and seeing all these animals made me so very happy."

Another resident, Hilary Newman, said: "This has been a delight and I have really enjoyed the farm's visit."

Activity organiser Alan Bearne commented: "Our thanks go to Terry, Brian and Hannah who have brought the animals to us. It will be a visit that will remain in the memory of all of us for a long time to come."
