He received care from St Wilfrid’s Hospice, and Ann wanted to give something back.

“Before he died last July, Ken, who suffered from Parkinson’s Disease, expressed his wish to do something for St Wilfrid’s,” said Ann. “After he passed away, Ken’s suggestion of wanting to help St Wilfrid’s stayed with me, and so I decided I would help fulfil his wish. Ken will be doing it, but by proxy through me.”

So on May 18, Ann donned a first world war flying jacket, goggles and helmet, courtesy of Tangmere Military Aviation Museum, and took to the sky.

“It was exhilarating – I would recommend everybody to do it,” she said.

Since then Ann has raised a huge £1,513 for the hospice. To donate to the hospice through Ann visit www.uk.virginmoneygiving.com/AnnBrett
