The event is organised by the Mini Club and all the money raised will go to the NCH Action for Children.

Annabel is a member of the Mini Club Sussex, she joined in 2000 and found out about the Mini race from her driver to be, Martin Willard. His co- driver had had to drop out and so he asked Annabel if she would like to take the place. Annabel said, I jumped at the chance, it s a once in a lifetime thing and it s unlikely I ll have the chance to do it again.

To enable Annabel to take part in the race she and Martin had to sell raffle tickets to raise 1500. Annabel also took part in a sponsored swim and swam 92 lengths in one hour to help raise money for the NCH Action for Children charity. She also raised enough money to put towards petrol on the journey. Annabel is being sponsored by ECAT, so that she can take part in this unique opportunity.

The race will take Annabel and Martin on a picturesque route through Italy, although they wont know where they are going or what tasks they will be expected to do until they turn up and are given their task pack.

The event was launched in 1990 with the aim of raising money for children in a fun way and has a number of celebrity supporters. They include Wendy Richards who plays Pauline in Eastenders, Ken Dodd, Jimmy Hill and Henry Cooper among others.

Annabel admitted that she was getting nervous about the forthcoming event but said it is definitely worthwhile .
