A Hailsham farm will be throwing open its gates to mark the biggest event in the farming calendar,
Blackstock Farm is giving residents the chance to meet its animals, take guiding walks around the farm or enjoy a tractor trailer ride during the annual Open Farm Sunday event on June 9.
Entry will be free and visitors can enjoy our wonderful farm and woodland walks, see a variety of farm and more exotic animals and enjoy our indoor and outdoor play areas.
The Hellingly based farm’s animals include poultry, deer, goats, llamas and alpacas.
Tractor rides and horse and cart rides may also be available subject to weather conditions.
This annual event, organised by LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming), showcases British farming and is a great chance for everyone to see how our food is grown and produced and show their support for our farmers.
Hundreds of farms across the country will be welcoming visitors and offering them the opportunity to come and discover the story behind their food and get a fascinating insight into aspects of the countryside that they wouldn’t normally see.
This year’s event will be the eight time it has been held.
The event aims to provide residents the opportunity to get to know how their food is produced and how the countryside around them is cared for while learning from farmers themselves how natural plant and insect species are encouraged to thrive alongside crops. They will get a close-up look at farm animals and see how the needs of wildlife are balanced with modern food production.
