Another boost in charity funds

Selfless members of West Bognor Flower Club have added to its tradition of generosity.

They handed over a 943 cheque at their latest birthday party to the cancer day care unit appeal at St Richard's Hospital.

The amount is in line with the annual totals of recent years to mean the club must have raised a total of several tens of thousands of pounds in its 41 years.

Money was raised in the past 12 months through a garden party, coffee mornings and raffles at the club's meetings on the second Wednesday afternoon of each month at Mosse Hall in Aldwick.

The cheque presentation was held after a flower arranging display using golden blooms by Pamela Bryant from Worthing.

This celebrated the 50th anniversary of the National Association of Flower Arranging Societies to which the flower club belongs.

In the current year, the club will continue to back local good causes by supporting the hydrotherapy pool appeal of Fordwater Special School in Chichester.
