Anti-fracking public meeting in Billingshurst

ANTI fracking campaigners in Billingshurst are holding a ‘beware the no fracking promise’ public meeting.

Taking place on Friday, April 10, between 7pm-9pm in Billingshurst Community Centre, the aim is to provide information about the nearby drilling site at Broadford Bridge, near the villages of Billingshurst, West Chiltington and Pulborough.

Hosted by the recently formed Keep Billingshurst Frack Free group, the evening will include a presentation by local researchers and Tony Whitbread, chief executive of the Wildlife Trust, who will outline the possible effects.

Also making a presentation will be Brenda Pollack of Friends of the Earth.

The evening will give villagers the chance to express their views and hear from other concerned residents.

Celtique Energie has been refused permission for exploratory drilling in the South Downs National Park at Fernhurst and just outside its boundaries, between Wisborough Green and Kirdford. But the company intends to begin drilling at Broadford Bridge.
