Apollo Taxis employees are driven to distraction for good cause

SIX brave souls have had a ’tache-tastic November, but now can’t wait to liberate their upper lips.

Employees at Apollo Taxis, in Littlehampton, have been taking part in “Movember”, which challenges men to grow a moustache throughout the 11th month of the year, to raise money for, and awareness of, men’s cancers.

Maurice Ayling, Phil Rylands, Alex Angioni, Richard Howlett, Alan Woodford and David Jones all took part, and though the final total has not yet been counted, they have raised at least £50 each.

Lynda Shaw, office manager at the firm, pictured with the drivers, said: “Every time the drivers walk in it’s like we have been struck by a gang of banditos.

“It’s a still a bit of a surprise sometimes.

“You get so used to seeing people in a certain way.

“But they’ve all been brilliant and some of their tashes are fantastic.”

While she refused to elaborate on which ones, Lynda said that some of the drivers really suited their new face furniture.

“It’s a shame they can’t keep them, but they are all finding them a bit itchy”, she added, “and their wives don’t like them!

“They can’t wait to be clean shaven again.”

She went on to thank everyone who had donated to the cause. “Passengers were very generous.

“The drivers never asked for donations, most of them simply gave it to them. We couldn’t thank them enough,” she said.
