Appeal after burglaries at Peacehaven sports clubs

Police have put in place extra patrols after a string of burglaries at Peacehaven sports clubs during the last two months.

An investigation into the crimes is ongoing and Sussex Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

A 16-year-old boy, from Peacehaven, has been arrested in relation to all these offences and released on conditional bail until June 1.

PC Louise Barkaway from Peacehaven Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “Both of these clubs have been targeted by mindless thieves and vandals in the last month.

“Both clubs have since boosted their security and extra police patrols will be put in place in the area concerned.

“This investigation is ongoing and we urge any members of the public to come forward if they have any information about who else may be involved in these crimes.”

Peacehaven and Telscombe Bowls Club was broken into three times in a month.

Peacehaven and Telscombe Football Club in Piddinghoe Avenue, Peacehaven, has been broken into twice in March and an attempted break in was made overnight on Monday (April 14) to Tuesday (April 15).

When the burglars broke in overnight (March 24 to 25), and again on the following night (March 25 to 26), they stole cash and alcohol and caused damage to the clubhouse.

The football club, also in Piddinghoe Avenue, has been broken into twice, again overnight on April 4 to 5 and then on April 6.

Both times damage was caused but nothing was stolen.

Both clubs are situated at the end of Piddinghoe Avenue, metres from each other.
