Appeal for witnesses to Seaford supermarket assault

Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault on a woman in her early 20s who was attacked in Tesco Express, Sutton Park Road, Seaford, on Saturday (January 30).

The victim was shopping there with friends when the assault took place at 9.30pm. She suffered a grazed knee and ripped coat.

Her assailant is described as a white man, 25-30, with short dark hair. The suspect is known to the woman.

He approached her and a verbal altercation took place before the woman was pulled to the ground and her coat was ripped.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to email [email protected] or phone 101, quoting serial 1578 of 30/01.

Alternatively they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 (www.crimestoppers-uk.org)

A 29-year-old man has voluntarily contacted police and been interviewed in relation to the incident. Enquiries are continuing.
