Are you mad enough?

The annual event has become a major fund-raiser for the hospice. A year ago so many "dippers" and their supporters turned out to challenge the chilly Channel that hospice fund-raiser Jenny Tyrrell and her assistants were almost overwhelmed.

This time Jenny hopes to welcome even greater numbers as dippers gather for the 11am splash.

Once again, Bexhill Sailing Club is kindly hosting the event by providing changing accommodation.

Some rules are strict. "No wet suits, no dry suits - no WIMPS!"

But the mood is light-hearted. Fancy dress is welcomed and the 2006 event certainly saw some whacky costumes soaked in the surf.

The quickest cure for a Hogmanay hangover is traditionally followed by a hot toddy.

The registration fee is 5 and a minimum 25 sponsorship is required in order to take part.
