Armed Forces Day celebration

SEDLESCOMBE Royal British Legion Branch held an Armed Forces Day Tea Party in the village hall last Saturday afternoon, as part of the national event day to celebrate our Armed Forces. 65 members and guests of the Sedlescombe, Battle, Robertsbridge and Little Common branches attended. Pipe Major Hamilton led the parade of representative branch Standards, which made a colourful march-past. During the afternoon, entertainment included a selection of stirring bagpipe tunes and a sing-song led by singing troupe Gin & Tonic, followed by an enjoyable tea.

Branch chairman Anthony Morton-King took the opportunity to highlight the fundraising projects that Sedlescombe branch led over the last year, which included the donation of a new 50-inch TV and greenhouse to Mais House, the RBL home in Bexhill.

The project to put a permanent flag pole on the village green has unfortunately not progressed, due to a legal issue raised by an objector. The possibility of another suitable site is being explored.
