Arrests follow attack on students

Two german students were assaulted on Monday night as they walked across the Downs.

Aged around 14/15, the students were suddenly attacked from behind and punched.

However, a spotcheck on local youngsters by a PCSO that same night led to two arrests when two admitted their part in the crime.

One of them has been remanded and the other has been bailed to the youth offending team.

Inspector James Scott of Sussex Police said the result had come through quick thinking by the officer and commented: "It's a successful outcome - a positive outcome - which shows a swift response from the local neighbourhood police."
