Arrival of spring lambs delight Barnham youngsters

A triplet of lambs was born just as young children from Barnham Primary School arrived on a farm.

The sight of the births delighted the six and seven-year-olds almost to the minute when they walked on Gaston Farm in Slindon.

It was the first time the children had seen lambs and they marvelled as the new-borns quickly got to their feet.

The youngsters also got the chance to handle ducklings and chicks to add to the pleasures of the day in the country.

They had a tractor and trailer ride up to the South Downs to see where the lambs will be grazing when they are older.

The visit by the year group of 45 pupils, accompanied by eight helpers, was one of three arranged by the school this year.

Perfect spring weather added to the enjoyment of the day.
