Art lovers flock to Bognor Regis' most popular show

More than 3,500 visitors poured into Bognor Regis Art Society's most popular exhibition ever.

The 3,581 people who went along to the summer event made it the most successful the society has held at the Norfolk Centre in Arundel.

Society publicity secretary Phillip Lee said: "Many commented on what is now such a well-known characteristic of the society, the amazingly wide range of subjects and styles that were to be seen."

A total of 359 framed and unframed works were on display in the hall. The bright sunshine on most of the days enabled them to be enjoyed to their best advantage.

The pictures covered everything from trains, planes and elephants to meerkats, delicate flower studies and the last night of the Proms.

A good number of the paintings were sold.

Many compliments in the visitors' book made all the hard work the artists had put into their paintings worthwhile.
