Art on display in Pagham

SCENES from home and away took visitors to Pagham's parish church on a sightseeing journey.

The annual art exhibition at St Thomas a’Becket Church saw some 300 works on display over the bank holiday weekend.

They included an acrylic scene of the church by John Wapshere and the adjoining Pagham Harbour nature reserve in pastel by Frank Garner as well as other coastal places like Lawrence Crisp’s watercolour of a squall near West Wittering Harbour.

Other English sights, such as the Old Mill in Stotford, captured in oil by Valerie Exley, were also depicted.

Those further away like Corfu, an acrylic by Peter Easterbrook, and Lawrence Crisp’s watercolour of Kristiansand in Norway, gave viewers the chance to travel.

A total of 32 works from some 300 had been sold in the first two days of the event in aid of church funds.
