Artist’s view of the world amounts to more than just words

ARTIST Rosemary Pavey has been a familiar figure at Stoneywish Nature Reserve in Ditchling ever since she arrived to do a weekend exhibition there 20 years ago.

As artist in residence, then wildlife officer, then farmer’s wife, she has tried her hand at most jobs, but writing a novel has been a new and absorbing venture, she says.

The idea for her novel, The Beehive Cluster, grew out of her drawings of plants and animals in the reserve and her interest in the many impacts of modern living.

She said: “We are always complaining that life is getting busier and busier. We don’t know where time has gone. And nothing seems to add up any more. We are surrounded by ‘Special offers’ that cost a fortune; gadgets that create more work; food that makes us ill... The more we try to care for the environment, the more it seems to suffer.”

The Beehive Cluster is described as a novel for all ages about a conflict between old-world wisdom and a hi-tech plot to steal the secrets of life. It is aimed at readers of all ages and is available on Amazon Kindle.
