Arun Choral Society performs at lifeboat station

MEMBERS of Arun Choral Society got into the holiday spirit when they performed a concert at Shoreham Lifeboat station.

The society, which had performed at the station’s open day in June, stood on the Tamar class lifeboat inside the boathouse for the concert.

The lifeboat crew, volunteers from the station, coastguards and flank lifeboat station crew were joined by other invited guests to sing along with the carols.

Although the wind was howling outside and the rain beating down, the choir, crew and guests were warmed by mulled wine and hot mince pies in the interval.

Keith Phelps, Shoreham lifeboat operations manager, said: “Arun Choral Society enjoyed performing here at our open day in the summer and jumped at the chance at returning to sing carols.

“It is the first time we have held at a carol service in the boathouse and it certainly made it feel festive.”

Arun Choral Society is based in Arundel and usually performs at Arundel Cathedral. The annual programme includes a major work in the spring and autumn, as well as carol concerts in December.

The festive carol concert was held on December 18.
