Arun District Council complaints have more than halved

Complaints investigated by senior managers at Arun District Council have more than halved in five years.

The number of moans which had to be looked at by an officer from a department separate to that being moaned about was just 25 in the year 2008/09.

This was the lowest figure for at least six years and compared with 55 in the year to the end of March 2004.

Three of the latest complaints were found to be justified, six were partially justified and 14 dismissed.

Arun services director Colin Rogers said at the council's performance scrutiny committee: "Without being complacent, the council can be pleased with the situation."

Total complaints logged by the council in 2008/09 were 95, but most were resolved by the department concerned.

At least 59 compliments about the council were received in the same year.
