BASF Agriculture Specialities, based in Eldon Way, took advantage of the free healthy eating advice available to businesses throughout the Arun district.

Staff were regularly buying their lunch from burger vans because there is no canteen and the kitchen facilities are limited where they work.

Laura Walshe, the firm’s environmental health and safety supervisor, decided to take part in a health campaign called Mission Nutrition, so the staff could get tips on how to eat more healthily.

She arranged for a visit from the workplace wellbeing team, a free service delivered by Arun District Council and available to any organisation in the district wanting to improve the health and wellbeing of their staff.

Laura said: “It is really good that there is a service like this. The council’s staff were very knowledgeable and gave us lots of things to think about. I would encourage any business to make use of this fantastic service.”

Arun Wellbeing will continue to work with BASF Agriculture Specialities over the next two months, including Cook and Eat workshops, where staff will learn how to prepare healthy lunches and snacks, and wellbeing MOTs for staff.
