Arun fuel poverty project wins national award

Arun District Council and its project partners have seen their efforts gain a Community Action Award.
The national scheme is run by fuel poverty charity NEA with the Department of Energy and Climate Change and British Gas to highlight excellence tackling fuel poverty and improving energy efficiency among vulnerable households.

Hide AdThe district council’s award of £1,500 will help it to improve the health and wellbeing of vulnerable people across the Arun and Chichester districts.
The project’s staff are members of the council’s Arun Wellbeing team and provide energy advice on the phone or in a resident’s home and make the changes needed to lift them out of fuel poverty.
Cllr Andy Cooper, Arun’s chairman, said: “We are delighted that the hard work and innovation shown by the Arun Wellbeing fuel poverty team is being recognised.
“It is so important we do what we can to ensure that vulnerable members of our community are in a position to be able to keep warm.”
