Arun Well-being hub backed

A SCHEME to help combat unhealthy lifestyles has been given the seal of approval.

The Well-being hub was granted its £400,000 yearly budget from the West Sussex Public Health organisation by Arun’s cabinet.

It will be a one-stop shop, referring residents to opportunities to help them address alcohol misuse, tackle obesity, or give up smoking with the aim of reducing illnesses such as heart disease and cancer.

The cash will enable Arun’s existing five-strong well-being team to increase in strength with the recruitment of new wellbeing advisers over the coming months.

Councillor Roger Elkins, Arun’s cabinet member for housing and community care, said: “We’ve had an exceptional well-being team on the ground operating for the last two years with our voluntary sector partners, bringing about real change and improving the lives of our residents who need the most help.”
