Asda means business as it unveils plans for store

PLANS for a £30m store at Bognor that could lead to 1,500 new jobs have been unveiled by supermarket giant Asda.

It is to submit a planning application to Arun District Council to build a football-pitch-sized store at Oldlands Farm.

The area has been earmarked for a new business park by the council.

Asda will also pay the 4.5m cost of the infrastructure needed to make the business park a reality.

In addition to the store, Asda is planning to build offices that will start the business park development and potentially create another 1,000 jobs.

Asda spokesman Tom McGarry said: "We have never before provided this level of detail for an outline planning application '“ more than 900 pages.

"We have worked hard to make sure the local community has been engaged on our proposals."
