'Asda's rejection by Arun could block other firms from investing in Bognor'

A furious town councillor has said Asda's treatment could stop other firms from pumping money into Bognor Regis.

Cllr Paul Wells said: "What really concerns me about this episode is the impact it will have on any business, or potential business, wanting to invest in Bognor in the future.

"With the treatment that Asda, a national retailer, received because of the despicable attitude of Arun District Council, it could put them off.

"I don't care what anybody else says. I thought the way Asda was treated was beyond contempt.

"I am still spitting mad about the way they were treated. What message does that send out to anyone else wanting to invest in Bognor? Clearly we are in a recession and companies are closing shops up and down the land. Companies thinking about it will see Bognor as a place they don't want to do business.

"That's the message Asda's treatment sends out. The town should never forget that."
