PUB QUIZ: The Ash Tree Inn are holding their next Pub quiz on January 5, at 7.45pm. Entry is £1 per person and a set meal of £5 can be ordered. Please call them on 892104 for further details.

CHAPEL COFFEE MORNING: Ashburnham Chapel are holding a coffee morning on December 28 and January 25, 10.30am to noon. All are welcome to join them.

WI: Ashburnham and Penhurst WI meet on January 18, 7.30pm in the village hall when Martin West and Catherine Duggleby will talk to them about the work of Hastings Street Pastors.

2M@1: The next meeting of 2M@1 is on December 14, 1pm at Ashburnham Church Hall. They will be having their Christmas Celebration - a Buffet Lunch with Paul McVeagh playing Carols on his guitar. They meet on January 11 with Reminiscences of Ashburnham Part 2: Monie Creasey with Jennifer Oldroyd. Everyone is very welcome to join them.

VILLAGE LUNCH: The next Village Lunch is on December 16 and January 20, at Ashburnham Village Hall, 12.30pm. Lunch is cooked every month for any older residents in the villages who would like a bit of company and a delicious meal. Transport can be arranged if needed. CAROL SINGING: Join the tractor-drawn tinsel-bedecked trailer next Friday (December 18) at 6pm as they travel from house to house singing carols, and occasionally lingering for mince pies or a warming drink. The tour starts from the Chapel at 6pm and finishes at around 8pm. Wrap up warmly and bring a torch or lantern. As part of the tour of every corner of the village, this year they are going along Farthing Lane, taking in Brigden Hill and ending up at Lattendens. If you would like us to sing a carol (or two) at your home, or would like to offer refreshments to the carol singers, please get in touch with Nicky on 01424 892474.

PUB CAROLS: You are invited to join in singing Carols at the Ash Tree Inn on December 21, 7.30pm.

PLOUGH SUNDAY: No matter how sophisticated it gets, farming is still a risky living. Weather, blight, disease and drought can all bring horrendous problems. So what better way to start the new year than to revive the ancient custom of Plough Sunday – a day when we entrust the life and work of our farms and gardens to Almighty God and ask for his blessing. GO along to Kitchenham Farm on Sunday, January 10 at 11.30am and join Ashburnham Chapel and Ashburnham Church for some great hymns, good fellowship, and the opportunity to pray for the farming year.
