VILLAGE LUNCH: The next Village Lunch is on September 16, at Ashburnham Village Hall, 12.30 p.m. Lunch is cooked every month for any older residents in the villages who would like a bit of company and a delicious meal. WI: Ashburnham & Penhurst WI are meeting on Monday, September 21, 7.30 p.m. at the Village Hall. The September meeting sees them welcome popular historian, ian Everest, to explain how the events of the Great War affected the people of Sussex during the 1st World War. Visitors and new members are always welcome.

BOOK GROUPS: The book for September is Nelson Mandela’s autobiography “A Long Walk to Freedom.” This was described by David Steel as ‘ Vivid testimony to a mixture of courage, persistence, tolerance and forgiveness.’ The afternoon group will meet on Friday, September 25, 2 p.m., whilst the evening group will meet on Tuesday, September 29 at 2 p.m. at Ashburnham Place. If you would like to borrow the book or would like further information about either group, please contact Nicole on 894208 or Nicky on 892474.

MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING: A coffee morning in aid of Macmillan is being held on Saturday, September 26, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the Pavilion, Ashburnham. Delicious cakes, coffee, tea, a raffle and more will be on offer. As well as being a perfect chance to catch up over a cuppa, you will be helping to raise money for a very worth while cause.
